SUMMARY OF Masseria Cervarolo
Masserias are fortified farmhouses dating back to the 16th century that are found on the estates in the region of Puglia. Masseria Cervarolo is a beautiful estate rich in history with typical Apulian truilli houses that has undergone an exceptional renovation. Everything from the main building, the courtyard, the small church to the lands of olive trees make this boutique hotel so unique and, even with its restoration, the property still maintains its true Apulian essence. The location in the countryside is so peaceful - you’re guaranteed to hear the sound of birds singing all day and the gentle breeze in the olive trees. Plus, the hotel is within a short distance from some of the prettiest towns of Puglia, such as Ostuni, Cisternino, Ceglie Messapica and Martina Franca.
We stayed in a double classic room which actually used to be the barn for the sheep. It’s built in stone and features several tools that were once used for farming. The large double bed was extremely comfortable and the size of the room is good. The bathroom is not that spacious however it has lots of charm and we loved the fragrances of the Essentia Puglia bathroom toiletries. Breakfast is included in the price of the rooms and is presented indoors as a buffet with amazing homemade products like cakes, biscuits jams, fresh juices, seasonal fruits, Italian cheeses and lots more.
You’ll be amazed by how large the swimming pool is! The setting is ideal as it’s surrounded by gardens, plants and natural rocks. There are plenty of sun loungers around the pool and, as it’s so spacious, you never feel on top of the other guests. The pool bar has a lovely healthy menu including delicious fresh salads, bruschetta and fruit juices and smoothies. During the summer, dinner is served at the restaurant (exclusive to hotel guests) in an ancient orangery in one of the gardens and it consists of a tasting menu of several courses of Apulian dishes using local seasonal ingredients and accompanied but lovely wines from Puglia.
One of the things I truly appreciated about the hotel are its sustainable efforts, such as, zero plastic, refillable bathroom toiletries and solar panels in the parking area. It shows how the owners are tue to themselves and the property by protecting the environment and keeping waste to a minimum (like it used to be centuries ago at the masseria). All the staff were genuinely friendly and very efficient making us feel at home at all times. I seriously couldn’t think of a better place to stay in Puglia!
