SUMMARY OF Version Maquis Citadelle
This luxury boutique hotel has an ideal location as it’s secluded on the top of the hills in the maquis and is only a few minutes drive away from Bonifacio Marina. Plus, it has the most wonderful views over the citadel of Bonifacio which can only be truly appreciated in person. Some of the prettiest beaches in the southern region of Corsica, such as the Sperone beaches, are only a 15 mins drive away.
The design of the suites and the hotel is very modern and refined. I really liked the unique quirky bed frame of the VM suite and all the contemporary art pieces. The outdoor infinity pool is absolutely stunning and you can easily spend the whole day sunbathing on the terrace and swimming lengths in the pool whilst admiring the stunning views over Bonifacio. The hotel provides serval luxurious services such as shuttles to Bonifacio, electric bikes, and even private boat & helicopter tours. The VM restaurant serves refined Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner and you can choose between eating indoors or outside on the terrace.
This hotel is ideal for those looking for a luxurious stay in a modern and relaxing setting. The design of the hotel and all the facilities are top-notch. The only little downside to our stay were the staff at breakfast. We arrived towards the end of service and weren’t even welcomed to be seated and each time we asked for something the waiters would roll their eyes and even make sarcastic comments behind our backs which we found totally inappropriate.. They even removed unfinished food from our table whilst we were serving ourselves at the buffet. This is the only reason why I haven’t given the hotel 5 stars. Maybe we just weren’t lucky that particular morning because everything else was perfect and the reception staff were very friendly and welcoming.
