20 Photos that will make you want to visit Santorini

Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea that has become increasingly popular over the past few years. With its rugged landscape, charming towns with whitewashed houses, underwater caldera, black/red/white lava pebble beaches, and scenic views there’s no wonder why thousands of tourists visit this unique volcanic island every year. It’s a very romantic destination and has become a popular location for proposals and weddings! Despite the large number of tourists, Santorini still remains a magical place and is definitely worth visiting although I would suggest going off-season to avoid the summer crowds and the excessive heat.

Oia is a must but do be prepared for the crowds, especially at the famous sunset point on the castle ruins. There are many iconic spots to see in Oia, such as the pink bell tower, the windmills, and the blue dome church, but the town is a little maze so I would advise to just wander around and discover its hidden gems at your own pace. Imerovigli is another beautiful town and is a lot more peaceful than Oia. You can also climb up Skaros Rock to watch the sunset and admire the scenic views over Imorvigli and the Aegean Sea (do wear appropriate shoes and take drinking water). If you have enough time then you can also visit Fira and check out some of the incredible beaches of the island like Red Beach, Armeni Beach, Perivolos Beach and White Beach.
