I guess you've never heard about Kiruna before and won't know where on the world map it's situated. Don't worry - I didn’t know either until a friend told me about an amazing escape he went on to the north part of Sweden in Lapland. Kiruna itself is a small mining town, not that charming, but has the most amazing surrounding untouched wilderness and is an ideal location to see the Northern Lights.
I'm sure you've seen the iconic Icehotel featured on a travel magazine or online as one of the best hotels in the world - well that's next to Kiruna. It's a stunning winter wonderland region with many amazing activities to do such as dog sledding, ice fishing, and snowmobiling which I shall cover all in detail in a separate post.
